Let me tell you about the insane number of addictive shows I shamelessly devoured this year. I basically became one with my couch, eyes glued to the screen, losing track of time. The excitement of diving into these series was next level! So, without further ado, here are my ridiculously binge-worthy top 5 TV series that will consume your life!!

Baby Reindeer
Baby Reindeer was one of the BEST Netflix show I’ve ever seen, but it ended up being a hell of a lot darker and more disturbing than I expected it to be! It is #1 on my list of top 5 binge-worthy series!
"It’s a patronizing, arrogant feeling, feeling sorry for someone you’ve only just met." - Donny, Episode 1
Meet Donny Dunn, the comedian extraordinaire who's just trying to make a buck at a dodgy pub in Camden. And then there's Martha - the enigmatic lady who decides Donny is the bee's knees and won't let him out of her sight. What begins as a casual drink offer quickly turns into a wild obsession. Martha practically sets up camp at the pub, spinning yarns about her wild adventures and bombarding poor Donny with a flood of wacky emails that are a typo goldmine and flirtation gone wrong!
I won't go any further -- I want you to watch it for yourself. Though, I say this... Baby Reindeer is not just a series, it's a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave a lasting impact on you. With its raw and intense portrayal of sensitive topics like sexual assault and mental health, this show manages to balance between humor and tragedy effortlessly. The main actors, Gadd and Gunning, knock it out of the park with performances that deserve a standing ovation. Prepare yourself for a journey that will stay with you long after the credits roll.
The Glory
Consider this series your slow-burn revenge drama fix - perfect for those who enjoy a little patience with their popcorn. Get ready for a wild ride!
“You need to get punished. Criminal punishment if God’s on your side, and divine punishment if God’s on my side.” – Moon Dong Eun
Intriguingly, the series kicks off with Dong-eun, our resilient protagonist, facing relentless bullying in high school because of her humble beginnings. What unfolds next is a gripping tale of determination as she spends the next 18 years crafting a master plan for revenge. Witness her transformation as she sharpens her skills, builds a network of allies, and amasses valuable resources to execute her long-awaited retaliation.
As Dong-eun's story unfolds, her brilliance and complexity shine through in every calculated move she makes. Her encounters are not mere coincidences but carefully orchestrated events that reveal her hidden pain. Despite giving her tormentors a heads-up, she ensures that justice is served openly, setting her revenge plans in motion with satisfying precision. Dong-eun's strategic approach adds a layer of anticipation and depth to her quest for retribution.
In conclusion, The Glory is an almost flawless K-drama suitable for those interested in a captivating revenge and thriller genre. Even if you are not a frequent viewer of K-dramas, you will still appreciate this series.
Maid
Released in 2021, this hidden gem had me completely captivated from start to finish. This compelling series offers an unfiltered look at the challenges of poverty and single parenting, pulling at your heartstrings while keeping you on the edge of your seat.
Alex, a young mom from Washington State, bravely leaves her abusive and alcoholic boyfriend, Sean, taking her 3-year-old daughter with her. She faces a challenging journey of financial struggle, searching for childcare, staying in shelters with mold issues, and fighting for custody of her daughter, Maddy. The exhausting and demoralizing experience highlights the harsh realities of seeking federal assistance in desperate times.
However, I must caution you that the series Maid can be emotionally intense. It might be distressing for individuals who have experienced similar situations or related issues, like mental health. Certain episodes are suffocating, reflecting the dire circumstances faced by Alex as her choices diminish and her attention narrows on her daughter Maddy.
“You can’t even buy me a burger on the worst week of my life.” – Alex
Maid on Netflix delves into the raw truths of the human experience, bravely addressing profound societal issues with elegance and depth. It stands as a significant cultural piece, shedding light on the complexities of life with grace and insight. The show's impact is a testament to the value of such thought-provoking television.
Big Little Lies
Released in 2017, I was absolutely hooked from the start! Set in a world where swimming pools are perched on cliff edges, Big Little Lies gradually downplays the opulent surroundings as the story unfolds--where all the main characters are sort of prisoners of their struggles amidst the paradisiacal backdrop of Monterey.
This mini series starring Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoone, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz. Oh, and let us not forget the iconic Meryl Streep! One of the standout aspects of the series is its exploration of the intricacies of female relationships and the dynamics of power and control. Each character grapples with their own struggles and secrets, adding layers of complexity to the overarching plot. The interactions between the women are both poignant and intense, revealing the bonds that tie them together as well as the tensions that threaten to tear them apart.
As the morning sun rises, casting a warm glow over the schoolyard, these five mothers arrive with their children in tow. Each mother exudes a sense of determination and purpose as they navigate the bustling drop-off zone. The air is thick with unspoken competition and underlying tension, palpable enough to slice through with a butterknife. Their interactions are laced with subtle glances, forced smiles, and polite nods, masking the simmering rivalry that simmers just beneath the surface.
As the story unfolds, the audience is drawn into a web of lies, deceit, and betrayal, and MURDER, all set against the backdrop of a seemingly idyllic coastal town. The stellar performances of the cast, coupled with the lush cinematography and evocative soundtrack, create a viewing experience that is as emotionally resonant as it is visually stunning.
TRIGGER WARNING:
This series delves into topics of a sensitive nature, including issues related to domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter
This documentary is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions!
Surprising developments that left me audibly gasping. If you enjoy true crime, this is a must-watch!
The determination of the protagonist to uncover the truth about her daughter, whom she had to give up for adoption, is truly inspiring. Her partner's unwavering support adds a touching layer to the narrative.
The collaboration between law enforcement, investigators, and the community showcases the power of teamwork in seeking justice. The involvement of the victim's childhood friends and the bravery of individuals like Metta highlight the importance of solidarity and compassion. Witnessing the support system rally around the mother throughout her journey is heartwarming.
The shocking revelations will leave you speechless. This documentary is a must-watch, leaving viewers captivated by the gripping story and the powerful conclusion!
Well, that's a wrap! Drop a comment below and spill the tea on these binge-worthy shows (without too much of a spoiler, if you can)!
